What Are We Working On?
At Sunan Designs, our projects are fueled by creativity, strategy, and sometimes, a little wandering. We’re delving deeper into refining our creative processes, allowing ourselves to explore unconventional paths to spark fresh, impactful ideas. We’re all about staying grounded in strategic thinking, but lately, we’ve embraced a new mindset—one that gives us the freedom to wander.
My Biggest Takeaway: Give Yourself Permission to Wander
In a world that praises efficiency and structure, it’s easy to feel like every thought needs to fit neatly into a plan. But here’s the truth: invention and straight thinking are often at odds. Allowing yourself to wander—letting your mind explore what-ifs and possibilities without restriction—is where true creativity begins.
When we’re constantly directing our thoughts to solve a problem or meet an objective, we’re limited to what’s already been done. Straight thinking is effective for tasks and goals, but it rarely leads to breakthrough ideas. That’s why, as a creative exercise, giving ourselves permission to wander is essential.
Let’s think of it this way: wandering is like taking your mind on a walk without a map. No deadlines, no to-do list. Instead, there’s curiosity, observation, and the freedom to explore paths that might otherwise be overlooked. This process of “wandering” isn’t wasted time; it’s the birthplace of innovation.
When we approach thinking as an open-ended journey, ideas come together in unexpected ways. You might start with one question and end up exploring something completely different. This is how you stumble upon new insights—by wandering into them. In my experience, some of the best ideas happen when I’m not forcing anything but letting my thoughts drift naturally, connecting in ways that wouldn’t happen in a linear process.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: next time you feel stuck, try wandering. Let go of the need for immediate results, and instead, give yourself the freedom to explore ideas without judgment or limitation. You never know—what feels like a mental detour might just be the route to your next breakthrough.
Time to Level Up!
